The inside of a back purged weld

What is a back purged weld?

Back purging typically takes place in tubular type welds, but can also be performed other ways on a variety of welds. Back purging involves flooding the inside of a tube with an inert gas, typically Argon, with a low flow rate. One end is usually plugged with a small outlet hole and the other has a feed tube. This removes the atmospheric air that can contaminate metals like Stainless Steel and Titanium. This prevents contamination and provides a cleaner and stronger weld.

Do you do mobile work?

As of right now, no. However in mid 2024 we will be offering a complete mobile shop equipped with tools and supplies. What does this mean? It means we come to you. Whether you are a shop, a business, or a homeowner, we can come to you and take care of your needs. Even jobsites and industrial settings! We will be capable of virtually any job with the mobile setup. You will also find us at tracks and events.

Do you only do motorsports fabrication?

Not at all. While this may be our specialty and focus, we do much more. Having years of industrial, mechanical, and other work experience helps us to tackle most any request. We have experience with industrial shut downs, field repairs, hydraulics, electrical, and more. There’s plenty of ways we can help with your project or needs, even if its a simple repair. Rest assured, we also know what we can’t do, and will always recommend the right person for a job.

Do you repair wheels?

We get asked this a lot. We ONLY do weld repairs and blending on aluminum wheels. We DO NOT straighten, paint, or coat wheels. While we have modified some offset/back spacing in the past, we are currently not offering these services. Aluminum wheel weld repairs only.

Why can’t I see the roll cage quote page?

While that page used to be open to everyone, it is now locked. We are no longer taking on any and all roll cage work. Moving forward we will only be taking on select projects. This is not a way to discriminate against builds. It is however a way for us to select projects that align with our quality and values. We strive for the best quality when building roll cages and don’t think that should have an “assembly line” feel to the builds. Quality takes time and focus. If you are interested in a roll cage, please reach out through our contact form to see if we can help you.

What types of work don’t you do?

We don’t do any work that is clearly dangerous, hack work, or rushed. To clarify, we will work hard to get a job done in a timely manner, as well as on a tight schedule. We will NOT make an attempt to complete a 3 day job in a single day. Rushing like that leads to mistakes or overlooked details. That’s just not up to our standards. We will also not do any work that is clearly a hack job or dangerous. That means we wont come out and “throw a quick patch” on your rusty truck frame. We also won’t “just weld it” so you can appear to pass tech somewhere. That’s just plain unacceptable. We’ll do our best to accommodate you or even help you get a vehicle home, but we will NOT put anyone, including ourselves, in danger. Besides that, we’re open to anything, especially challenges.

What is your return policy?

We only accept returns that within 30 days of ordering in unopened, unused condition. Parts that have been installed, used, modified, tossed in a parts drawer, etc will NOT be accepted. Please be sure you know what you are ordering before purchasing. If you have questions, please reach out and ask.

A 25% restocking fee will be applied.

Parts may not be exchanged without explicit consent from RattyFab LLC.
